Owen Reeder was just an ordinary boy–until the day that changed his life and his destiny. The Book of the King by Jerry B. Jenkins and Chris Fabry tells the exciting and suspenseful story of a boy discovering his destiny. Owen Reeder, a quiet, timid teenager, hadliterally grown up in books. His father had owned a bookstore for as long as he could remember. And as long as he could remember, his life had been like any other ordinary boy–except for the fact that he didn’t have a mother. However, one day, a stranger visited his father’s bookstore and showed Owen a book that completely changed his life and opened his eyes to a whole new world. He found out that his life had been made for so much more than just to stay in the humble bookstore for the rest of his life. He was forced into a battle between the evil and good forces with a main mission of keeping the Book of the King safe. For if the Book got into the hands of the enemy, Owen, and his world would suffer greatly. Jenkins and Fabry take the reader on a journey like never before in their book The Book of the King. Follow Owen on his journey from common boy to wanted boy, and experiance the adventure alongside him. This is not a book you want to miss.

Oh wow! This book was AMAZING!! My eyes were glued to the pages the entire time. Once, I started the book, I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Where do I start?! The entire book was so good.
I’ll start with the characters. Each and every one of them were written so well and made the reader develop an opinion of them straight away–either love or hate. I don’t want to go into much detail because I do not want to spoil the story. However we all know Owen was on the good side; I loved his character and thought the authors did a great job with his personality. He was so much like me; he was an introverted bookworm! It was like the book was written about what my life would be in fantasy form. The authors also did an amazing job of surprising the reader. I was constantly being astonished with a character. I would start liking a character, but then find out he/she wasn’t everything they claimed to be. That aspect was part of the reason it kept me riveted to the story–I never knew what/when the next twist to the story would be.
I also loved the scenes. The authors basically painted a picture of each scene in the reader’s mind. They described each part in maticulous detail, and made it seem like you were there in the book store, in the city, with Owen. I wanted to run with him when he was escaping and yell “It’s not what you think!” to warn him; I wanted to be a friend to him when he had none and I wanted to cry with him during some of the sadder scenes. I wanted to experience every scene (well mostly) alongside the characters because each scene was so lively.
In addition, I loved the style with which Jerry B. Jenkins and Chris Fabry wrote. They wrote in a way that captivated the reader, but yet also snuck in a Christian aspect. They did a great job of contrasting the Book of the King with the Bible. Just like Owen had to follow the words written in the Book of the King as his command to life, so we, as Christians must follow the Bible–our command to life. Owen was a greta example of people nowadays, as each of us discover our calling, and use the Bible as our guide book.
Overall, I LOVED this book and would read it again in a heartbeat. The only thing I do not like about this book is that it is number one in a series, and ended on a suspenseful note! ๐ I do not have the next book in the series, but now I want to go buy it so I can get off the edge of the cliff I’m on right now! ๐

I bought them on kindle, so they were a lot less expensive than on paperback.

Yes. I think that in the time since I bought my kindle, I have saved twice it’s price in books, because most books are $2.99 or some are $9.99. I think that I have only bought 8 books over $10 for it.

That’s awesome! I have a Kindle as well, but I do not think I have ever bought any books for it. I’ve always gotten the books for free from Project Gutenberg.

Wow! 3 was good, and I just finished 4. I have no idea how the author can fix all that he has gotten himself into in only one book though.

I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil the plot for anyone. Suffice it to say that there are still suprises around the next bend! People are not what they seem to be, etc.
