Hurt sexually, emotionally, and physically by the ones she loved, one girl grew up in a world full of pain. In Love is the Answer, God is the Cure Aimee Cabo shares her memoir of hurt, sadness, and healing. Losing her virginity at only twelve years old as a result of a rape, caused Aimee to feel hurt and broken inside. Years later, her daughter was even taken from her after her boyfriend lied about her. For years, she put up with the pain, until she and her sister decided to get the authorities involved. Once brought to light, her case became known as “The Case From Hell”. From court battles, to abuse, to addictions, to poverty, Aimee experienced it all; however, her faith in God never wavered, and it kept her going through all the hurt. Love is the Answer, God is the Cure is one woman’s story of standing up against the odds to build a family with love that could stand against anything.
This definately was not my favorite book I have read, but it also was not my least favorite. I enjoyed it for the most part however, so I would probably give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars if I had that option. I didn’t think the book was written in an extremely engaging way and I wasn’t drawn in by the author in the way, I like to be in reading. I did think her story was inspiring though, in that she didn’t let all the hurt and pain of her past tear her down. She kept her faith in God and used it as her comfort during her horrific ordeals.
Content Warning: There were a few cuss words in this book. However, Aimee was not the one who said them (it was her “raper”), so I did not take off a star for that. I do think that because it is rated a Christian genre, that the language should have been a bit cleaner. The bad language was really only in one part though, so I didn’t mind it too much.
